The Oklahoma City Thunder are having an amazing season — even better than last year, when they set the record for biggest average winning margin in NBA history.

Tied for Best Start Ever

In moving its record to 24-1, Oklahoma City tied the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors for the best start to a season through the first 25 games.

The Warriors were 24-0 that year before losing their 25th.

The Warriors went on to win 29 of their first 30 games and 36 of their first 38.

Winning Big

The leading margin for the Thunder is enormous this season.

They set an NBA record last season by outscoring opponents by an average of 12.9 points per game.

This year they're even better.

The 138-89 win over the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Cup quarterfinals moved their average margin of victory to 17.5 points a game - the largest on record through 25 games.

Prior to this, the best margin was 13.9 points by the 2007-08 Boston Celtics.

Many Big Victories

Wednesday's win was the 17th victory by 10 or more points for the Thunder this season.

That ties them for the second-most double-digit wins through the first 25 games in NBA history.

Only the 2007-08 Celtics had more, with 19.

The Thunder became the first team in NBA history to record at least 17 big wins (10+ points) in the first 25 games in consecutive seasons.

Enormous Lead Youngblood hit a 3-pointer with 5:25 left that gave the Thunder a 128-78 lead — the first 50-point lead of any NBA team this season. They eventually led by as many as 53 points. The most the Thunder have led in a regular-season game this season and last was 44 points, although they had advantages of 49 and 56 points on their way to the championship in playoff games.
