At the Nou Camp, Barcelona pulled off a remarkable comeback, defeating Atlético Madrid and stretching their LaLiga table advantage to four points over Real Madrid.
Entering the game with good momentum, Atlético had won seven consecutive matches in all competitions. Early on, as Álex Baena crashed Barcelona's high defensive line and scored, they kept their excellent form. VAR verified the goal although the assistant referee raised the offside flag.
Barcelona reacted rapidly. Eight minutes later, Pedri assisted Raphinha, who dribbled past goalkeeper Jan Oblak and put the ball into an empty net.
Barcelona had a chance to seize the lead when Robert Lewandowski sent the penalty over the bar after Pablo Barrios tripped Dani Olmo inside the area. Oblak rejected his close-range header a few minutes later.
Lewandowski helped Olmo early in the second half, who finished with a low shot to bring the score to 2–1. Regretfully for Olmo, he had to be replaced because he seemed to have hurt his left shoulder during scoring.
When Thiago Almada discovered space but shot wide after losing equilibrium, Atlético nearly equalised. Barcelona, though, locked in the 3-1 win as substitute Ferran Torres scored from Alex Balde's low cross.
Though Real Madrid might close the distance on Wednesday, the victory provides Barcelona some breathing room at the summit of the table. Having defeated Barcelona away in the league for the first time in 18 years last year, Atlético was unable to duplicate that success this year.
