West Indies beat England by 30 runs in the high-scoring T20 World Cup encounter in Mumbai.

The West Indies produced a frenetic batting display, defeating England by 30 runs in the 15th Group C game of the T20 World Cup in Mumbai. Sherfane Rutherford was the star, ending not out 76 and taking the Player of the Match honor.

West Indies 196/6 in 20 Overs

The aggressive start to the innings, though casualties did come during the powerplay. They amassed 54 in the first six overs but fell to three down early. Yet the runs kept coming, another 50 in less than five overs, thanks partly to a spate of extras.

Roston Chase provided a steady hand for 21 before falling to a successful England review. The middle overs sprung to life courtesy of Rutherford and Rovman Powell.

The two stitched together a quick 50-run partnership for the fifth wicket in just 26 balls. Rutherford plundered a dazzling fifty from 29 balls, hammering two fours and five sixes. By the 14th over West Indies stood at 127/4.

Rutherford kept the attack on, pushing the total past 150 in the 17th over. An important 50-run stand for the sixth wicket with Jason Holder added late fireworks. West Indies closed on 196/6, Rutherford unbeaten on 76.

England Batting: 166 in 19 Overs

England began with real ambition, posting 67 runs in the powerplay and losing only one wicket. A rapid start saw them reach 50 in just 4.3 overs as Jos Buttler and Jacob Bethell set the tempo.

They crossed 100 in the 12th over, but the tide then turned as West Indies took wickets at regular intervals in the middle overs. Sam Curran tried to anchor the innings but fell to a successful review.

England then suffered further setbacks after several reviews - one for a catch, another LBW - really put the pressure on, and despite a late surge to 150 they finished up short.

England were then all out for 166 in 19 overs to concede a convincing 30-run win to West Indies.
