The powerplay for South Africa started with a flying start, in which they scored 53 runs with only one wicket down in the initial six overs.
Quinton de Kock started aggressively with a half-century that came in just 26 deliveries, including 4 fours and 4 sixes.
Aiden Markram joined hands with him in continuing his assault, and both of them added 50 runs for the second wicket in 32 balls. The teams reached a drinks break, with South Africa in a cruisy position of 90/1 in 10 overs, with de Kock scoring 62 runs.

A quicker start was what India needed, but their power play became a struggle. They scored 51 runs but lost 3 wickets in the first six overs.
A turning point arrived when South Africa reviewed a decision for Suryakumar Yadav in the 4th over. The third umpire supported their appeal, which led to India’s captain being sent back early.
At the 10-over mark, India were 81 for 4, with Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya attempting a rebuild.
Tilak Varma was the lone bright spot in the Indian camp, slamming a magnificent 50 in just 27 deliveries, including 2 fours and 4 sixes. He and Pandya added 50 runs for the 5th wicket, but their required rate of runs continued to increase.
