In a high-scoring encounter during the 25th match of the Indian Premier League at Ahmedabad, Gujarat Titans pulled off an impressive chase to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders in front of a vibrant crowd of over 34,000 fans.
Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders had a rocky start, losing three wickets in the powerplay and managing just 37 runs. However, the innings was revived by a crucial partnership between Cameron Green and Rovman Powell. The duo steadied the innings and accelerated at the right time, stitching together key stands that pushed the score forward.
Cameron Green played a standout knock, smashing a well-paced 50 off 34 balls and later building a quick 50-run partnership with Angkrish Roy. His aggressive stroke play helped KKR regain momentum after early setbacks. Despite losing wickets towards the end, KKR managed to post a competitive total of 180 all out in their 20 overs.
In response, Gujarat Titans came out firing in the powerplay, scoring a massive 71 runs while losing just one wicket. The opening partnership laid the perfect foundation, with Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill taking control early in the chase.
Gill was the star of the show, delivering a captain’s knock under pressure. He brought up his half-century in just 27 balls and continued to dominate the KKR bowlers with elegant stroke play and calculated aggression. His innings of 86 off 50 balls kept the chase well on track.
Even as wickets fell in the middle overs, Gujarat Titans maintained a healthy run rate. By the strategic timeout at 16 overs, they were already within touching distance of the target. The finishing touches were applied smoothly as Titans crossed the line comfortably, completing a memorable chase.
For his match-winning innings, Shubman Gill was rightly awarded the Player of the Match, guiding his team to a crucial victory in the tournament.
