In the 16th match of the Pakistan Super League 2026 held at Karachi on April 9, Islamabad United delivered a commanding performance to defeat Lahore Qalandars by 9 wickets with 58 balls remaining.
Lahore Qalandars Struggle with the Bat
Batting first, Lahore Qalandars had a difficult start, managing only 34 runs in the powerplay while losing 2 early wickets. The innings never gained momentum as wickets kept falling at regular intervals.
Despite a fighting 25-run effort from Sikandar Raza, the batting lineup collapsed under pressure. Shaheen Shah Afridi added a few runs late in the innings, but it wasn’t enough to stabilize the total.
A crucial DRS review in the 17th over went in favor of Islamabad United, further denting Qalandars’ hopes. Eventually, Lahore were bowled out for just 100 runs in 18.3 overs.
Islamabad United Cruise to Victory
Chasing a modest target of 101, Islamabad United started aggressively, scoring 51 runs in the powerplay with minimal damage.
Devon Conway led the chase with a brilliant half-century, scoring 50 off 34 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes. He was well supported by Mohammad Faiq as the duo built a solid partnership.
Islamabad reached the target comfortably in just 10.2 overs, finishing at 104/1 and sealing a dominant 9-wicket win.
Player of the Match
Chris Green was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance, picking up 3 wickets for just 19 runs and dismantling the Qalandars’ batting lineup.
