The 21st match of the Pakistan Super League in Karachi delivered an exciting contest as Hyderabad Kingsmen secured a convincing 6-wicket win over Islamabad United, chasing down the target with 11 balls to spare.

Islamabad United got off to a blazing start after being put in to bat. The opening pair dominated the powerplay, racing to 57/1 in the first six overs. DP Conway led the charge with a fluent knock, contributing 30 runs in a rapid 50-run opening partnership alongside Sameer Minhas.

Despite the aggressive start, United struggled to maintain momentum in the middle overs. A key turning point came in the 7th over when Conway was dismissed following a successful review by Kingsmen. The innings slowed down as wickets fell at regular intervals.

By the halfway mark, Islamabad were 100/3, with MS Chapman and Haider Ali attempting to stabilize the innings. However, tight bowling and smart field placements restricted their scoring. Faheem Ashraf also fell after a failed review, adding to United’s troubles.

Islamabad United eventually posted 153/9 in their 20 overs. While the total was competitive, it felt slightly below par given their strong start.

In response, Hyderabad Kingsmen mirrored United’s aggressive approach in the powerplay, reaching 56/1 in the first six overs. Maaz Sadaqat and Marnus Labuschagne provided a solid foundation with a quick 50-run opening stand.

Labuschagne anchored the chase brilliantly, forming a crucial partnership with Saim Ayub. The duo kept the scoreboard ticking and ensured Kingsmen stayed ahead of the required rate. At the strategic timeout, Kingsmen were comfortably placed at 102/1.

Islamabad United tried to fight back with reviews and breakthroughs, but Labuschagne remained composed. He brought up a well-crafted half-century off 46 balls and guided the innings with maturity.

Kingsmen crossed the 150-run mark in the 18th over and sealed the victory at 157/4 in 18.1 overs.

Marnus Labuschagne was deservedly named Player of the Match for his unbeaten 61 off 53 balls, anchoring the chase to perfection.

This victory strengthens Hyderabad Kingsmen’s position in the tournament, while Islamabad United will look to bounce back after failing to capitalize on a strong start.
