India ended the fifth T20I on a high note as Ishan Kishan’s incredible century helped the team cruise to a 46-run win over New Zealand in a thrilling contest.

India Innings: Kishan-Surya Carnage Helps India Reach 271

The Indian innings got off to a flying start despite losing two wickets in the powerplay, scoring 54 runs in the first six overs. The New Zealand team took 5.4 overs to reach their 50, but they quickly picked up the pace after that.

The turning point of the innings came in the form of a destructive partnership between Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 100 runs in just 44 balls for the third wicket. By the time the teams took a drinks break, India were already at 102/2, in complete command of the situation.

Kishan scored his first fifty in just 28 balls, going on a rampage against the New Zealand bowlers. Suryakumar Yadav matched his pace, scoring his 50 in 26 balls, as India reached 150 in just 12.4 overs.

The assault continued as Kishan reached an astonishing century off 42 deliveries, littering the boundary with six fours and ten massive sixes. India reached 200 in the 16th over and continued to rack up the runs, finally posting an enormous 271/5 in 20 overs—one of the highest T20I totals for India.

New Zealand Innings: Allen’s Blitz Not Enough

While chasing an intimidating total of 272, New Zealand came out with their heads held high. The visitors reached 79 in the powerplay, losing just one wicket, and reached 50 in only 3.1 overs.

Finn Allen was the aggressor, smashing an electrifying 50 off 22 deliveries, using his might and accuracy to keep the innings alive. He and Rachin Ravindra shared a 100-run partnership for the second wicket, taking New Zealand to 131/2 at the drinks break.

Although reaching 150 in 13.2 overs and 200 in 17.5 overs, the team found it difficult to manage the required rate. India picked wickets at the right moments, including a successful review that got rid of Ish Sodhi towards the end of the innings, ending any hopes of a miraculous victory.

New Zealand were finally restricted to 225 in 19.4 overs, 46 runs short of the target.
