Sahibzada Farhan's all-round onslaught helped his side to a strong total and a 32-run victory over the United States team in the ICC Men's T20 WC 2026, Group A match played at Colombo.
Farhan’s 73 set the tone, and Pakistan’s bowlers held firm late to keep USA well short of the target.
Pakistan Innings: Farhan’s Firelight in Colombo
Pakistan chased the game confidently, reaching 56 runs in the powerplay despite the loss of two wickets. A review went Pakistan’s way, and Saim Ayub was given out on a close decision, but the runs continued to come.
At the end of over 4.6, Pakistan had scored 50 runs on the board with Farhan’s scintillating start and support from Ayub. Farhan accelerated his pace to reach his half-century from just 27 balls with clean boundary hits and huge SIXES.
Pakistan reached 100 in 11.5 overs. By the second drinks interval, they were at 133/2 with Farhan still out in the middle accompanied by skipper Babar Azam. Towards the end of this innings, wickets were lost; however, they managed to reach 190/9 in 20 overs.
USA Innings: Ranjane Runs a Counter
Chasing 191, the USA got off to a bold start, reaching 50/1 in the powerplay with Shayan Jahangir taking the initiatives. Regular breakthroughs were putting the required rate in check.
By the time of the second drinks break, USA were 99/3, reaching 100 in 14.1 overs. Ranjane gave momentum to the innings with his brisk 50 off 28 balls while anchoring the chase.
Ranjane scored 50 runs in an alliance with Milind Kumar, thus reviving the chase, but she fell in the 19th over after a review, putting things back in favor of Pakistan.
USA scored 158/8 in 20 overs, 32 runs short of the target.
