Bangladesh won the 1st ODI of the Pakistan tour of Bangladesh in a dominating fashion, crushing their opponents by 8 wickets after a clinical bowling display, led by Nahid Rana, to restrict Pakistan to a small total, which Bangladesh chased with ease.

Pakistan’s innings got off to a steady start, reaching 41/1 in 10 overs, but Bangladesh’s bowling unit took complete control of the match, not letting Pakistan recover from this start.

Although Pakistan took their time to reach 50 runs in 11.4 overs, they failed to sustain this pace in their innings and continued to lose wickets regularly. A few review dramas also took place during this innings, which are as follows:

18.6 overs: Abdul Samad’s dismissal is reviewed, but it is still not out.

22.1 overs: Bangladesh reviews Hussain Talat’s dismissal, and it is upheld.

22.5 overs: Shaheen Shah Afridi’s dismissal is reviewed, and it is struck down.

Although Pakistan managed to reach 100 runs in 25.4 overs, they were still in a tough spot when drinks were called in 28 overs, and they were struggling to reach 108/9, with Faheem Ashraf playing a lone battle.

The innings came to a close shortly after, with Pakistan being bowled out for just 114 runs in 30.4 overs. Bangladesh’s bowling attack had been on top throughout the innings, with the sensational performance by Nahid Rana, who took 5/24 and destroyed the Pakistani batting lineup.

Bangladesh’s Explosive Chase

Bangladesh chased the modest target with ease, reaching 81/1 in the first powerplay, thereby putting the game out of Pakistan’s hands early on.

Bangladesh reached 50 runs in just 6.1 overs, courtesy of both aggressive batting and loose Pakistani bowling, which conceded 11 extras.

Bangladesh’s 50-run partnership for the second wicket in just 38 balls between Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto crushed Pakistan’s hopes.

Tanzid Hasan played a fantastic attacking game, scoring his half-century in just 32 balls, comprising 5 fours and 4 sixes. Bangladesh reached 100 runs in just 12.3 overs, thereby demonstrating their dominance over Pakistan.

The hosts chased the target comfortably, reaching 115/2 in 15.1 overs, thereby winning the game with 209 balls still remaining.

Player of the Match

Nahid Rana was the star player, taking 5 wickets for 24 runs and thereby destroying the Pakistani batting order and leading Bangladesh to victory.
