Bangladesh vs Pakistan 1st Test witnessed an exciting second day as Bangladesh posted a competitive first-innings total of 413 before Pakistan responded strongly to close Day 2 at 179/1 in Dhaka.
The day began with Bangladesh looking to build on their dominant overnight score. Mushfiqur Rahim continued his composed innings alongside Litton Das, frustrating Pakistan’s bowlers with a valuable fifth-wicket partnership.
Pakistan attempted to break the stand through a review against Litton Das early in the morning session, but the decision was overturned. Mushfiqur then brought up his half-century off 114 balls with controlled batting and timely boundaries. The pair added a steady 50-run partnership before Bangladesh crossed the 350-run mark.
Despite losing wickets around him, Mushfiqur held the innings together and guided Bangladesh toward a strong total. By lunch, the hosts had reached 380/7, with Pakistan gradually finding breakthroughs during the session. Bangladesh eventually finished their innings at 413 all out in 117.1 overs, setting a challenging platform in the first Test.
Pakistan’s reply started confidently with openers Imam-ul-Haq and Azan Awais showing positive intent against the Bangladesh pace attack. The visitors raced to 50 without loss before tea, with both batters playing attacking cricket.
A successful review involving Imam-ul-Haq survived early in the innings, while Bangladesh also failed with a review against Azan Awais shortly after tea. The opening pair continued to dominate and brought up a superb century partnership in just 130 balls, putting pressure back on the home side.
Azan Awais completed an impressive half-century off 65 deliveries, striking eight boundaries in a confident innings. Bangladesh finally managed to break the opening stand, but Pakistan maintained control through another steady partnership between Azan and Abdullah Fazal.
Pakistan crossed 150 comfortably before stumps and finished the day at 179/1 in 46 overs. Azan Awais remained unbeaten on 85, while Abdullah Fazal provided excellent support with 37 not out, keeping Pakistan firmly in the contest despite Bangladesh’s strong first-innings total.
